ERA5 is the new dataset replacing the ERA-Interim data provided by our lovely hero: ECMWF. I usually used the ERA-Interim dataset to get the wave data, and now I am trying to use the ERA5. Thus, let's take some notes on how to access it. Tempo hari salah satu mahasiswa saya bertanya mengenai shapefile (file dengan ekstensi *.shp). Maka dari itu, saya buat posting ini sebagai pengetahuan awal mengenai GIS (Geographic Information System), karena memang mahasiswa tingkat awal pada ProDi tersebutbelum mendapat pengetahuan mengenai GIS. Shapefile, merupakan format file vector yang memuat informasi mengenai lokasi geometri dan attribut geografis. Salah satu mimpi saya kita semua adalah ketersediaan dan keterbukaan data hidrologi di Indonesia. Hal tersebut akan sangat berguna bagi kemajuan riset-riset dan kualitas engineering design kita karena the decisions were made based on a more reliable dataset. Nah, meskipun masih banyak room for improvement nya, saya rasa kita sedang mengarah ke sana, aren't we? Misalnya BMKG sudah lama merilis situs data online BMKG yang bisa kita tuju untuk mendownload beberapa data iklim. I think the reality might be getting closer (we gotta be optimist, right?). A short writing about longshore sediment transport as a note-taking thingie. Also, I wanna try the formula plugin in this platform, but SADLY, it only works for inline equation and not for the other. Thats why the equations are ugly here. Help me if you know something. Anyway…. Longshore sediment transport rate (LST) is the volume of sediment which moved parallel to the coastline per unit time ($latex Q_{LST}$). LST can occur in two alongshore direction following the breaking wave angle. Conventionally, LST is assigned positive when the sediment is transported to the right hand side of an observer looking out to the sea, and vice versa. The net LST is the sum of the positive and negative component, while the gross LST is the sum of the magnitude of both directions. (more…)...
